In order to guarantee that Registered Apprenticeship always remains a viable workforce development strategy, The US Department of Labor enforces labor standards that govern the National Apprenticeship System. These regulations ensure that the same quality of Registered Apprenticeship training is offered across all of the states.
The purpose of this regulation is to promote equal opportunity in Registered Apprenticeship by prohibiting discrimination and defining affirmative action efforts and selection procedures that sponsors must adopt to ensure equal opportunities for apprentices and applicants for apprenticeship.

Louisiana Administrative Rule Title 40, Part IX defines the purpose and function of the state’s Registered Apprenticeship system in addition to the operating procedures and responsibilities of the Apprenticeship Division.
