Interim Credentials

Posted On: July 10, 2018

The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Apprenticeship Division is proud to announce the first interim credentials available within a Registered Apprenticeship program in the State of Louisiana. By working with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), two interim credentials were developed for conduit fabrication and blueprint reading. These credentials demonstrate that apprentices have attained competencies in certain areas of their trade. This will allow the Local Workforce Development Boards to mark a positive outcome for individuals they support, as they achieve a certificate of a skill mastered within their trade before completion of their program. With six local chapters of the IBEW participating in Registered Apprenticeship across the state, this is new and exciting development that may inspire other programs to follow a similar path. These interim credentials were approved by the electrical training ALLIANCE.
