SUMMARY:Learning Opportunities on Leveraging Federal Infrastructure Investments
DESCRIPTION:Federal infrastructure investments flowing into states are expected to generate significant demand for workers across a range of occupations and industries. These federal investments can support workforce development\, including quality pre-apprenticeship programs and Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs). Need more information? \n\nState grantees had an opportunity on April 11 to learn more about these federal investments and discuss the roles state apprenticeship expansion grantees can play in helping states leverage these investments to expand apprenticeship. If you missed it or want to revisit the content\, you can now find the recording\, PowerPoint slide deck\, and related resources on WorkforceGPS.\n\nFrontline professionals are invited to join the Apprenticeship Professionals Learning Network (Network) on May 21 from 2 to 3 p.m. ET for a conversation on how to build apprenticeship opportunities that support infrastructure expansion fueled by federal infrastructure investments. Register here.

SUMMARY:Asian American\, Native Hawaiian\, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
DESCRIPTION:During Asian American\, Native Hawaiian\, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month\, we recognize the numerous contributions and rich culture of Asian Americans\, Native Hawaiians\, and Pacific Islanders (AA and NHPIs). AA and NHPIs have long been essential in writing the American story. From serving our country in uniform\, advocating for civil rights\, starting new businesses\, and winning Olympic medals\, the AA and NHPI community’s contributions touch Americans’ lives every day. \n\n\nAs some of the fastest-growing racial and ethnic groups in the United States\, the AA and NHPI communities represent a multitude of ethnicities\, languages\, and experiences. These traditions—woven into the fabric of the United States—originate from regions across the entire Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea\, New Caledonia\, Vanuatu\, Fiji\, and the Solomon Islands)\, Micronesia (Marianas\, Guam\, Wake Island\, Palau\, Marshall Islands\, Kiribati\, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand\, Hawaiian Islands\, Rotuma\, Midway Islands\, Samoa\, American Samoa\, Tonga\, Tuvalu\, Cook Islands\, French Polynesia\, and Easter Island). \nVisit the links on this page to learn more about Asian American\, Native Hawaiian\, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. \n  Lasting Legacies: A White House Celebration of AA & NHPI Heritage & History 2024 | White House Initiative on AA and NHPIs \n  Asian Pacific American Heritage Month |AsianPacificHeritage.gov \n  Asian Pacific American Heritage Month | National Archives \n  Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage and History in the U.S. | NEH.gov \n  Asian American\, Native Hawaiian\, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month- AANHPI Heritage All Year | U.S. National Park Service \n  Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center | Smithosonian.org \n  US-Asia Institute | usasiainstitute.org

SUMMARY:Youth Apprenticeship Career Expo
DESCRIPTION:The Louisiana Workforce Commission and the Apprenticeship division\, WIOA and the Local Workforce Development collaborated to organize the first-ever Youth Apprenticeship Week at Acadian Middle School in Lafayette\, Louisiana. Thanks to the active participation of employers and Apprenticeship Sponsors in the expo\, the event was a resounding success. The expo showcased real-life scenarios\, providing invaluable insights to over 500 students from six schools in Acadiana\, ranging from 8th Grade to 12th Graders. First responders also had the opportunity to demonstrate fundamental life skills to students interested in pursuing careers in those fields. The first expo was particularly focused on students and schools in low-income areas\, aiming to broaden their career horizons beyond high school graduation. \nWe are immensely grateful to the employers and sponsors for their support\, which played a crucial role in the success of the first Youth Apprenticeship Week. We are excited to announce that the upcoming Youth Apprenticeship Week promises even more exciting opportunities and experiences next year\, so stay tuned for more updates! \n                                   \n                 \n
